What is a Single Hung Window?


Have you ever wondered what a single hung window is? Well here is your answer. A single hung window is a window where the upper sash is fixed but the lower sash in movable. The lower sash can moved raised in order to have air flow freely. The lower sash can be meant to tilt in order to be cleaned easily. Single hung windows can come in many sizes and styles.
People will often confuse fixed windows with single hung windows. A fixed window is a window where the one pane of glass is stuck into place. Fixed windows do have some small advantages over single hung windows but they have major disadvantage. That is a fixed window cannot allow air to come in where as a single hung window can do this.
You have two options when purchasing a single hung window. The first is you can purchase new frames and windows together that can just be put into place. Or you can purchase just the glass and install it into existing frames. The biggest advantage of a single hung window is they are significantly less expensive than other designs. The low price of a single hung window acceptable since there is some small convinces involved with them.
